When it goes sideways

You do not have to invent a fix mid-period. Work down this ladder until something matches.

  1. The day’s “If behind today” line. Every one of the 20 days has one. It names exactly what to cut, and on the four Gate/Milestone days it also names what must not be cut. Where: on the Daily Card for that day, near the bottom.
  2. The week’s “If it goes sideways” card, when the problem is bigger than the clock — half the class unprepared, hardware down, a period lost. Where: the last page of that week’s Teacher Daily Cards pack.
  3. The Boost Card on the table, when it is one student stuck rather than the whole room. Where: the laminated BC1–BC9 set at each table.
  4. Message Liz — after class, not during. Where: the contact details on your Start Here page.

If yours isn’t one of them, every recovery move in this unit follows the same principle: protect the thing being assessed, and let everything else move. On Day 5 that is the submission. On Day 10 it is each student’s own prediction, which is the only part the card assesses. On Day 20 it is that everyone presents and everyone gets scored.
